Gasp..!

I work at the corner of Center Street and Main in Logan. As you can imigine it is a fairly busy intersection with a lot of pedestrians due to the nature of the businesses surrounding. Today our office was able to get front row seats to a wreck that occured this afternoon. We could hear the cop car sirens and looked out our office windows to see that there were about 5 cop cars as well as a fire truck and an ambulance. There was a white suburban with a Latin lady on her cell phone. We couldn't really see any damage to her car, but we knew it was her because she started to loose it and started crying and looked pretty shook up. The cop started taking pictures and we watched him take a picture of the back seat of the car. We still couldn't see any damage, but it obviously was big enough to need all of these responders. After we deliberated for a few minutes trying to figure out what it was we gave up but just watched for a moment.
Our co-worker came in and found out what happened from one of our clients that was an eye-whitness. He said that they had a kid (about 2-3) that was playing in the open window and fell out as she turned the corner! The the client we were working with said he immediately pulled in front of the kid and tried to block all the traffic from running him over until they got someone there. This poor lady was in shock by the looks of it, we never saw what happened to the little kid, but the lady had another baby in the car (about 1). From the side of the car we could see, there wasn't a car seat for the kid and I hope there was one on the other side for the baby!..but the ambulence left without the lights on, so the injuries weren't so bad that he had to be rushed back to the hospital. Sigh...Lesson for the day...WEAR YOUR SEATBELT...and more importantly make sure your kids do! (and have all the appropriate car seats)

FFA: What is something you are incredibly good at and something you are terrible at?

Lets start with the more obvious things first. I am pretty much terrible at....Basketball. Pretty sure if I were ever to be given a position on a basketball court it would be defense. I pretty much am good and getting in the way...not that the second they ram into me I don't immediately give....I had to play a little as an exercise science major and of course High School Gym. When they had us do drills across the floor while dribbling I would dribble and somehow spun the ball across my palm in the process which caused some extreme static of the hair in the process. This in turn equals a lot of laughing by other people and not me. I would have to touch something metal every time I crossed the room to "releive" the electric current.
Fantastico......this is highly debatable but if I were to pick something I was fantastic at...the only thing that would even come close to reach that kind of praise would probably be my painting. I have to admit that it is kinda sad to me that, that is the best I can do because although I feel I am good at it, I certainly don't feel like I am FANTASTIC at it and that there isn't anything really to brag about because I am really not that good. My sisters prove it as they try once and theirs are infinitesimally better than mine..oh well.

Work
So it is interesting how quickly things can change. They have decided at work that I should be doing Policies instead of typing PR's. SO, with that I will be able to work with something that I have never done before which is good because I don't want to leave here without learning anything new. They hired a new person to do Policies, but decided that P.R's were much easier and it only made sense that the new person should do the easier job and I do the other. Not only that, because I am also the recorder, they feel that Policies would be a good spot because they don't need to be rushed, so I can get to them whenever I am not doing Recordings. SO, I am happy about it, but it means more training for the next couple of weeks. Having 3 new employees since I have been here makes me feel more in place and less like "the new girl" which I really like. I admit doing the P.R's and recording has kept me more busy than I like and has even spiked some of my anxiety a little, so I will be glad to slow the pace just a little. :) (Plus it makes me feel good that they trust me with the more complicated job)

I just started reading Stephenie Meyers new book "THE HOST" so far it is okay, I have only gotten about 5 chapters in, but I just keep waiting for the good stuff to begin. The ratings were really good and here little dedication at the beginning was to her Mother that said something to the effect that Love is the root of every good story, or something like that...so I am waiting for the love story to begin and then I think it will be good. I hope it is as good as Twilight, which I just finished (again). I will let you all know what I think about it as I get further in.

HA!

Did anyone else hear about this? I seriously was thinking after I graduated that it was a bit of a waste, but I loved my major. By my senior year my professors were saying that those of you that are Exercise Science majors should look to getting a masters or further education because there is no jobs for us (and there are people out there that do our jobs without the slightest bit of a degree, but just have big muscles). SO I was thinking to myself that the best way for me to get a job or have any kind of job security would be to hook up with an insurance company and say "hey, you refer people to me, I will reduce their risk of all these diseases by putting them on a treadmill, and then you give them a lower premium..." Then...a year later I read this article. For those of you who haven't read the link: Cedar Cities govornment employees that do not follow some kind of exercise plan will have to pay 20% of their health care premiums while those that do, will have 100% of their paid for them. I think personally that this is a great idea. It gives people motivation to be healthy and to save money by making healthy choices. Plus, they just saved 20% on their health insurance, money that could be spent instead on a gym membership or a personal trainer. SO!! Another thought of mine is potentially true. I have always thought that there may not be jobs for me right now, but I have always felt that I should stick with the major I picked because I felt it was the right thing and that there would be jobs available in the future. All in All, this is great news to me! :)

FFA "When Techology has gone too far...."
Upon reading this weeks FFA topic “when technology has gone too far…” I immediately thought of 2 things. One is a topic that I am not even going to touch on. Texting. I am pretty sure we all know that the X generation doesn’t know how to properly communicate without it. (I consider myself only half X because I, unlike a true X, didn’t get a cell phone until college and only texted for important things like…flirting with my fiancĂ©.) Besides, I am sure that someone else in the FFA realm will cover this topic because I am pretty sure it is widely understood to be “technology going too far”. This then leads my to my other immediate thought which isn’t exactly what most people would probably expect to fit into this topic parameters, but is clearly a candidate. With no further ado, I present this:
Now, I am a huge supporter of going “Green” and am all about not wasting paper, and I even use my real recycling garbage can. I will even walk out of my way to pick up someone else’s grody trash. However. I do not feel that there is any need to RECYCLE any document on my computer. I do not expect that the letters used on that word document will magically reappear in word and allow me more words in the future. I surely hope that pictures that were intentionally placed there do not show back up in my folders. In FACT, I hope that the space that those documents etc. don’t show back up and continue to take up space on my hard drive OR the programs causing spam or other virus’ aren’t re-appearing anywhere. Quite frankly everything I put in the recycling bin, I hope to be gone and never comes back…otherwise, why would I have intentionally put it there? The bigger thing here to me is the fact that it has no relationship to real garbage being thrown out and the need for it to be recycled so that we can better serve our environment. This recycle bin has no purpose being a recycle bin rather than a trash bin on my computer. Someone just thought they would give Microsoft a better, more environmentally friendly image, by adding a recycling bin...It apparently didn't work for me, I would rather have a trash bin. Mostly because the idea is ridiculous to me and clearly only there for "image" purposes. (Yet again one of my useless rantings, why I waste my time giving such thought to such and insignificant part of my day, I don't know...anyone want to talk about Obama and Clinton?)
