YAY!

Yesterday Andrew suprised me (he loves to do that) with a new camcorder. We just got paid for the summer sales that we did and every year before Andrew has bought himself something that he has been wanting and then does whatever with the rest. WELL, since I went this year, I got my summer perk also! He said he did some researching and found a Panasonic digital camcorder with mini dv etc. etc. and other cool stuff.
I had actually already been saving to get one, so I guess the $200 I saved will get to go elsewhere! Actually Andrew wants some of it ha ha, he needs new shoes. I was hoping to save it for things I know that are coming up, like the family reunion or the need for an air conditioner in a few months. Oh well. I can handle letting him have new shoes, if I get a nice new video camera. I am very excited to use it on our secret trip this weekend. Andrew still hasn't told me where we are going, but it was meant to be for Valentines day, but didn't work out for that weekend so we are going this weekend which happens to be Andrew's Birthday. P.S. If you want to call him on his big day (Feb 1st) here is his number 435-770-2185 (don't tell him I put it up on the blog :))
Andrew's perk was a box for his new truck (the box for the old one wouldn't fit in the new one, so Dad gets a nice box to go with his truck) He really likes it.

Poor Kenny

Apparently yesterday Kenny didn't escape the snowy roads unscathed yesterday. As he described it, there was a car in front of him that had started sliding sideways up the freeway and in the process of trying to get out of the way, he didn't. From bumper to bumper was damage made by the other car. After Kenny called 911 to report the accident (he was fine) he looked to find the other car, which was difficult because of the blowing snow, he found that they had taken off! HORRIBLE! That is a horrible thing to do. Kenny said it pretty much ruined his day and Mom's apparently. Sources say (Alishia) that Mom was not in a very good mood. I don't doubt that having her new '07 Subaru damaged from front to back didn't go over well. Alishia advised to call Dad if I wanted more details. Poor Mom.

Consequently Kenny and Dad came and picked up Andrew's old truck last night. I am a little sad to see the old (actually it only and '01) Toyota go, it was nice and small and a great little truck. With Andrew getting his new truck from work, however, we didn't really need two. Dad had already said he wanted to get the truck, it was just a matter of a week that he would be sorting out the details. This expidited the process and off the truck went.

I guess Kenny and Dad will be speding some quality time in the garage fixing up both Kenny's car and Mom's car. Andrew purposely gets rid of old cars so he can avoid such quality time. I had to explain to him yesterday how Dad would actually be making money in this process by getting the money from the inurance company to fix the car and then fixing it himself for much cheaper.

Moral of the story, Drive safe.

Pet Peeve

It was snowing again this morning. Not such a rare thing these days, luckily it wasn't snowing very hard and not really sticking to the roads when I left for work this morning. Well, that didn't matter much because the guy in the jeep (jeep-like) car in front of me still was a little wimpy and couldn't possibly go the speed limit, he had to go at least 10 under. I would consider myself a pretty safe driver as well as one that typically obeys the speed limit. No matter, the road that we live on is a little slick and I am okay if he wants to drive a little slower, plus I didn't get to him until I was almost to the end of the road anyway. Well, when we got to the intersection to turn onto the highway, I starting thinking words like..moron, you and I both could have made that gap, what are you waiting for. It wasn't until there were no other cars in view (and you can see quite a ways down the road going both directions) that he finally eased his way onto the highway.

At this point I was a little annoyed, and also noticed he was on his cell-phone, even better. Now that we are on the main highway, where the roads are even more clear (completely capable of going the speed limit) he decides that he still wants to go 10 under. I couldn't pass him, every opportunity failed me. After a few minutes of following this guy...I honked. I am not one to promote road rage and I wasn't really even mad, just annoyed. I am not afraid to use the tool so easily available. This must have brought him to his senses because he finally put down his cell phone and sped up to about only 5 below the speed limit and about a block later turned into the gas station, just after the speed limit dropped to 30. In case you are all wondering, I was a little late to work this morning.

I have decided that this is one of my pet peeves, when people drive dramatically under the speed limit when they don't need to and when they are on their cell phones and when I am on my way to work.

Work work work

As you all know I have been working towards becoming a graphic designer. Less of you know that I actually applied for a job and was even called (or actually emailed) to go in for an interview. I think it went well. It didn't seem as though he had a lot of people he was choosing from. I guess at this because he sent me home with a project to do as a "test" to see if I am up to par. While I was sitting there at the interview he had to think of what the project would be. If I were to logically think about it I would assume that someone hiring for a position that had a lot of applicants would already have a project ready for them to do, and might even be likely that they would have all the applicants do the same project. I was probably the last to interview as well since I asked to be interviewed on Monday when I had work off.

My interviewer introduced me to his co-worker and asked if he had taken a look at my resume at all and the other guy said "yes, I was the one who wanted her to come in". It isn't a graphic design company, it is a instructional design company who happens to need a graphic designer. This makes me think that they may be more likely to hire me. Since they aren't likely to have seen hundreds of graphic designers and see where I am lacking.

I finished my project yesterday (a few hours after the interview) and sent it in. We will see what they say.

All-in-all I went into the interview fully prepared to NOT get the job, it wasn't until after that I thought I might have a chance. Even if I don't get it, as Andrew and I have said all along, it will be a good learning experience.

Interesting Morning

This morning Andrew woke up at 4:00 to go Goose hunting. I layed there in bed vaguely awake, but not enough to speak or move. I could hear Andrew rustling in the office closet packing up the last of his gear to head out. At just the right moment I opened my eyes just slightly and much to my shock saw Andrew's head moving quickly toward mine. It seemed to take a long time to ever get to my face though. It was as though he would move forward and back up and move forward. Why this scared me death, I am not sure, but I spent the next moment gasping for breath. Andrew quietly chuckled and asked what was wrong. I gasped a few more times, which was an odd experience, I don't know that I have ever gasped out of fear before. Andrew continued to move forward and gave me a quick kiss and said good-bye. He muttered something else as he left and my senses came back just as he was about to walk out when I protested and wanted another kiss while I was mildly more coherant. He obediently walked back and gave me a kiss.

At 6:00 he came back home, apparently retrieving something he had left. More asleep now than when he left at 4:00, due to an hour of trying to fall back to sleep, he called from the kitchen and said it was just him and that he was leaving again, but didn't come and give me another kiss due to his snowy and muddy boots. I am sure the reason of his making sure I knew it was him was to reassure me when I obviously seemed jumpy and prone to paranoya. I went back to sleep and had dreams that Mom and Dad moved (again).

I still haven't talked to Andrew this morning to see what happened and compare versions of the story. I will be interested to see if what I remember actually occured.

HELP!

I was hoping to get some help. I have procrastinated forever getting anything descent for a food storage and I am out of excuses, so I wondered if there was any help out there. I have a very handy booklet that will help me get started and be able to buy food incrimentally throughout the year. The problem is, that I am supposed to rotate and honestly I have no idea what I will do with 42 lbs of wheat in a year (I know what I would do with rice, beans, and oats)! I don't have a wheat grinder and I don't really make my own bread (I might have to learn!) Anyway..what are your thoughts! If you have any recipes or ideas or any sort of input I would very very very much appreciate it!!

Wedding Announcements etc.

I would like to open an invitation to anyone who is interested. I am willing to design any wedding announcements or Christmas cards/ birthday cards whatever for anyone for free. I am wanting to expand my portfolio, so I would welcome any requests that any of you might have. Even if they are just posters for a Relief Society/Primary/Young Womens event, whatever if you have any ideas of something I could do for you, I would much appreciate it. You can email me at deannaleeshaw@gmail.com.

On a side note, you don't even have to use it, if you can think of something that you MIGHT like to get done, let me know, I won't feel bad if it ends up being deleted from your email. I am just looking for practice practice practice!

P.S. Carillisa, if you wouldn't mind sending this with the Duncan and Lee Newsletters, that would be great.

Get less sleep.
Have at least one major hospital visit.
Buy more food.
Get a new bed and dresser.
Clean more.
Smile more.
I would like to get some new clothes.
I would like to have to take more time to get ready for church.

Can you guess what my resolution is? (yes, these all add up to one main goal)

COLD!!!!

As usual I went out to my car this morning to get it warmed up and the windshield defrosted before I left for work. Usually after about 2 minutes of driving the heat is at full force and doing its job, not this morning. I was almost all the way to work this morning and wondered why I was still freezing when I looked at the temperature gauge on my car...-2....BURRRR!!! I decided against parking in the 3 hr parking closest to the door thinking I didn't want to get back out in the cold to move my car in 3 hrs. I am not sure I made the right decision because my ankles were burning by the time I got to the front door and I couldn't barely breath because of the short breaths I had to take to keep my lungs from freezing. The crazy thing is, that it is supposed to get up to 30 degrees today and 39 tomorrow with rain predicted in the forcast.

On a seperate topic. Andrew was sick with the flu yesterday. We had plans to have dinner with some friends and when we got there Andrew was so sick he could barely eat anything (that is a first). We went home and he pretty much climbed into bed at about 7:30. His hands and feet were cold, but the rest of him was burning up. Poor Andrew, I hope he is feeling better this morning. Our puppy was sick yesterday too..he had "the runs" pretty bad which didn't work well when we tried to put him in his kennel to go to sleep last night because he pretty much got it everywhere..I will end the details there.
