Debt/Food Storage
I know a lot of you reading have probably already gotten the email to go with this link, but to those of you that didn't I highly recommend you read this article. I agree with what he says in there about not panicing, but I definitly think that it is time to make sure we have taken care of the things that we have been commanded to for so long. I myself have multiple times felt an urgency to get some food storage and to get as much of our student loans and other debts paid off. I wouldn't doubt this is the Spirit prompting me to do so. I have a co-worker who has felt the same and she has even gotten a sign-up sheet together and as co-workers we are going to the cannery in a few weeks.
This is a link to the LDS distribution services. It is only about $25 for a starter kit and they ship it right to your house. I think that at the least we should all get one of these and it is very affordable.
I thought I would add this funny story too. We had Stake Conference on Sunday and one of the speakers talked about paying your tithing. There had been a little girl that paid her tithing and when a member of the bishopric opened it up he was delighted that this little girl had been so good about paying her tithing, but was also immediately concerned and called the girls Dad. The member of the bishopric explained to the Dad that he had received the daughters tithing, but that it was for $100 dollars. The both were a little perplexed, knowing that the little girl couldn't have made $1,000 and that there must have been a mistake. He said the only other problem was that she paid her tithing in monopoly money.

Rough week.
I guess we are lucky we got the new puppy just in time. We are pretty sure that we have the worst luck when it comes to pets. The whole year and a half that we have been married, we had a dog die of cancer, a cat disapear/get eaten and now a puppy get run over. I am worried about what might happen when we have kids!
I hope you all have had better weeks than us! "What doesn't kill us makes us stronger"

Welcome Sage!
After much deliberation we decided to name her Sage. There were a lot of good suggestions out there including Sasqwatch, which was tempting :) But we thought this one fit. She is pretty tiny (even though you can't really tell from the picture) and extremely friendly and loveable..so cute. She has shown signs of being a great huntress as she pointed the cat 3x yesterday, one being very definite. Andrew was very happy about this, especially because Nash didn't point until he was much older.
We started the puppy life early yesterday waking up to her wimpering at 6:45 on Sunday...sigh, oh the joys, so much for sleeping in on the weekends. She is a little high maintenance and pretty much demands constant attention unless she is asleep or chasing the cat.

Ironic
Thanks for all the feedback on my last blog. You are all right and I already knew what most of you said, but I needed to hear it again, so you were all very helpful.
Yesterday my co-worker came up to me and asked if I wanted to change positions in the company..a promotion of sorts. The current typist/recorder is quitting as well as another employee and they asked if I would like the job. SO! I don't know if I will be getting a raise yet or not (but we all know that isn't the most important thing right?) but it is definitly a step better than having to answer the phones all day and do "fluffy" work...you know the little things that nobody else has time or wants to do, but because I am conveniently sitting here with obviously nothing really important to do I am the best candidate. PLUS I will get to go to the courthouse a few times a day and do recordings as well as being a sort of back-up runner. I really like this idea because summer is coming up and the chance to be outside during the day really is appealing.

I can't say this is a huge promotion because I still think it is an "entry level" position, but it is definitly a step above receptionist. Good-Bye phones! SO, a little ironic that this came just a day after my last post. OH and I talked to a guy that we get our stuff printed through and I asked him if he ever needed a graphic designer and he said he did, when they get swamped or when people go on vacations, so I told him that I was getting into that sort of thing and if he ever needed anything done that I had all the stuff at home to do it and to let me know. He seemed pretty optimistic and said that he would. So! hopefully that will develop into something.
Thanks again for all of your helpful comments, I just keep reading through them and reassuring myself. I am confident that I will be able to use my degree to it's full potential whether at home or in the work force. I just have to be patient until then.

Why did I go to college?

I am hoping you all my be able to feed me with reason as to why going to college was a good idea for me. I started working at a Title company in high school and got excellent work experience there for 4 years, but still pursued my degree in exercise science and human development. After 5 years of working my behind off in both school and work, working sometimes 3 jobs at a time to make it through, I finally graduated. Since I have gotten a job at another Title company and am working at a starting wage as a receptionist. My little sister (no offense Lu) just started as a receptionist at a title company as well, with no degree and no experience and is earning the same starting wage. WHY!? Why in the world did I go to 5 years of college just to do something that doesn't need a degree and doesn't pay nearly what a degree should have entitled me. I pray that the answer will present itself so I don't feel like a complete waste every time I get a paycheck or everytime I make a payment to my student loans. There has got to be a reason.
Lu, I am very happy that you get this opportunity and I am so glad that you are getting paid decently and getting great work experience....just be aware that there will be no sympathy...
I feel the need to add that I have yet to find a job that fits within my degree's expertise and I fought 300 applicants for this starting wage job...just in case you are all now wondering why I don't just go and get another job.

Puppy Name

We are looking for a name for the new puppy. This gets tricky because Andrew is picky. He says that she is going to be my dog, but he has to "approve" the name I get to pick...which pretty much means he is naming the dog because he has vetoed just about every name I come up with. SO I am looking for your help! Here is the criteria. Andrew being a hunter doesn't want to be yelling a really girly name while he is out with a bunch of guys (even though the dog IS a girl...personally I think he should get over it, but he won't) The name also needs to be fairly short 1-2 syllables. Some that we were playing with were Sage or Indy...I asked him about Paige or Mindy..and those were a no go...so you can see the perdicament I am in. What do you think?
