Food

The thing I love about food is this. You can be easily inspired. I watch the show chopped and I get clues, I watched Julie and Julia, wonderful inspiration. I joined for an unbelievably affordable fee the all recipes site. I HATE coming up with what to make. WELL this site sets up meals for you. (could be set up according to nutrition, to price, to themes) you can mix and match any recipes you want for any on the site and then when you are done it gives you the grocery list for all the recipes you combined. You can also edit your grocery list and add things like catfood and lightbulbs if you like. I printed my last weeks off and took it to the store where it was conveniently categorized into sections like baking isle, dairy, produce etc. Then this week I cooked all the recipes on my list. Andrew got dinner 4x this week 4! He is usually lucky to get 1. Also, the food I bought gave us both meals for 2 weeks for about 150 dollars...not bad if you ask me. OH! and all the meals have nutritional information on them. I'm a fan. It was really nice to get out-of-the norm ideas that were not from my typical stash.

I posted my 2 favorite this week on the food for thought blog www.carillisa.blogspot.com. ENJOY.

On another topic completely, is it soggy everywhere else? Andrew had to dig a path for all the water to run off the fields into the ponds.

Here is a question. Do you think it would be a good idea to have only "family" toys and not individual toys for your kids? I just imagine that it would help kids share. What do you think?

What is the site? I was looking at the allrecipe site and it said something about that.. but your site sounds wonderful.. that would save me the time of doing it myself (takes hrs)
Toys: I think it is good to have both.. most of our bigger more expensive things we have are for both. I think it is good to be able to teach them the value of their own things.. like Laklyn has a few toys that actually know her name and sing songs that she likes. Hopefully soon you can test these things out soon =)

I always read your blog but hardly ever post, sorry. As far as toys go...I agree that all toys should be family toys but having one much older than the other i find myself telling her that those are the babies toys. Probably because he is not old enough o fend for himself. As they grow up they will be sharing more.

I am another one who checks in every once in a while, but doesn't usually comment. Another good recipe website is simplifysupper.com. It has a calendar already planned out for each month and you click on the day and it gives you the recipe. I don't use it all the time, but have found some pretty good recipes from it.

Also, about the toys, We have a play room where "family toys" belong, and then in B.'s room there are her own toys (not a lot, just a few things). We only have one kid right now, but that is how we plan to solve the toy issue. Like for B.'s birthday we got her a slide for outside. Obviously, she won't be the onld using it--she just happens to be our first and will get to pass on her toys to other kids.

Both.
Having individual things are good to help you respect other peoples property. You learn to share but, only when you have something of your own to give. Can you truly feel the joy of giving if it was never yours to give up?
Communal property is good too because it gives one a sense of equality.
